RIP Giambi

I think there’s a correlation here. Giambi seems to have cooled off over the past week or so, starts losing some AB’s….next thing you know, he’s removed his ’stache. I’m not very superstitious, but it looks bad for Jason.
But for what it’s worth, we now have a new favorite song.

I logged onto the Facebooks today to kill a little time at work. At the top of something called the ‘News Feed’, the following was noted:
The RealEB added “Exercise” to his interests.
Really? This is one of your interests? Neat. Here’s a few other interests he probably has: commuting, doing taxes, washing dishes.
It’s times like these that make me seriously question my participation in this league. I mean, how can I justify trading Morneau to a team whose manager feels it important to note publicy that exercise is one of his interests? I could never do that to one of my players.
God help us all.
For the record: JohnHeartsTwoBites added ‘Carol’ to his interests.

Solo HR’s
July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment
So I was looking at the standings and noticed something that upset me. I had the 8 in HR’s (out of 10) with 100 HR’s hit in total to date, yet I only have the 4 in RBI’s. I looked at the people above me in HR’s and noticed that the 10 and 9 in HR’s were also the 10 and 9 in RBI’s respectively (just in reverse order). That made me wonder, with an 8 in HR’s, logic says I should have anywhere between a 6-8 in RBI’s (so i’d like to think)……so I double checked the standings and nope, still a 4. How could this be? So seeing as I had some free time on my hands I did a little research on my club, and using the stats from my “team log” page (which keeps track of stats players get for you from the minute they’re your team, to the minute they get dropped, traded, benched, etc), I came up with the following:
| HR’s | Solo HR’s | % Solo HR’s | |||
| Jason Varitek | 6 | 4 | 67% | ||
| Bobby Crosby | 4 | 2 | 50% | ||
| Mark Ellis | 9 | 6 | 67% | ||
| Jack Cust | 15 | 7 | 47% | ||
| Mark Teahen | 9 | 3 | 33% | ||
| Placido Polanco | 3 | 3 | 100% | ||
| Miguel Cabrera | 15 | 7 | 47% | ||
| Grady Sizemore | 22 | 16 | 73% | ||
| Alex Rios | 3 | 3 | 100% | ||
| Greg Zaun | 1 | 1 | 100% | ||
| Gary Mathews Jr | 3 | 2 | 67% | ||
| Adrian Beltre | 9 | 6 | 67% | ||
| Kevin Millar | 1 | 1 | 100% | ||
| Totals | 100 | 61 | 0.61 | ||
So I guess that’s my answer, anytime someone on my team hits a home run, there’s a better than 60% chance it’ll be a solo shot……..not a 2run, or 3run, or Heaven forbid a grand slam, but a lonely solo shot.
I’m not complaining about the HR’s numbers, but it chaps my ass that the power surge can’t happen more often with men on board.
